Dr. Andrea Eschenbrenner D.C. - Calgary Chiropractor
Seeing Epilepsy’s Devastating Effects
“My journey to becoming a chiropractor started at age 10 when my 6-year-old sister started having grand mal seizures caused by epilepsy. A doctor put her on the drug of choice for epilepsy at the time. She had less seizures, but she went from a vibrant 6-year-old who got seizures to a nonresponsive 2-year-old after she got put on meds.
My aunt suggested to my mom that she take my sister to the chiropractor, but my mom didn’t understand why since nothing was wrong with my sister’s back. My aunt insisted that something wasn’t working right and that maybe a chiropractor could help. After six months of chiropractic care, my sister had no seizures and was off her medications. She hasn’t had one since. I knew then that I wanted to be a chiropractor and share with others the amazing capacity the body has in healing itself.”
Learning to Help Others
After completing a Bachelors degree in Athletic Therapy at Concordia University, Dr. Andrea attended Life University in the U.S. to receive her chiropractic education as well as her Master’s in Sports Health Science.
It ended up being the best decision I ever made. Life University is on par with what I believe, which is that chiropractic allows our bodies to heal themselves.
Sharing Our Chiropractic Knowledge
While in chiropractic college, Dr. Andrea put together an osteoporosis program to help women in the community. The program involved talking about eating habits, exercise and chiropractic to help seniors move better and function at a higher level. “We got them in the gym lifting weights, helped them moving better and made sure they were getting the nutrition they needed.” Participants in the program had amazing improvements their conditions.
Dr. Andrea still loves teaching our practice members about the body’s amazing abilities to health itself.
Offering You Hope
“I want to give people an alternative to getting well. Your doctor might have told you they don’t know what more to do to help you. Your medications aren’t making a difference; you’re not a candidate for surgery and physiotherapy hasn’t helped. That doesn’t mean you have to learn to live with the pain Your body’s capacity to heal is incredible. Sometimes, you just need to get out of the way and allow your body to do what it needs to do!”
