About Acupuncture
How Acupuncture Works
Acupuncture is a time-tested healing practice that has helped countless patients around the world improve their health and well-being. By inserting ultra-thin needles into specific points along the body’s energy pathways (meridians), acupuncture stimulates natural healing processes, improves energy flow (Qi), and restores balance to the body’s systems.
At Full Potential Chiropractic, acupuncture is part of our integrated approach to wellness. Our Registered Acupuncturist Michelle Wan works alongside our chiropractors and massage therapists to deliver coordinated care — so every treatment builds on the last and moves you toward your health goals faster.
Acupuncture is gentle, non-invasive, and most patients find it deeply relaxing. The needles used are extremely thin — much thinner than medical needles — and most people feel little to no discomfort during treatment.

Acupuncture Questions
Most patients feel little to no pain. Acupuncture needles are extremely thin — much thinner than a medical needle. You may feel a slight tingling or dull ache at the insertion point, which is actually a sign the treatment is working. Many patients find it deeply relaxing and even fall asleep during sessions.
It depends on your condition. Some patients experience significant relief after one session, while chronic conditions may benefit from a series of treatments over several weeks. Michelle will assess your situation and recommend a treatment plan during your initial consultation — there’s never any pressure.
Most extended health insurance plans in Alberta cover acupuncture performed by a Registered Acupuncturist. We direct bill most major providers so you pay less out of pocket. Our front desk team can help you check your coverage before your first appointment.
Absolutely. We offer a 20-minute Introduction to Acupuncture session for just $30. It’s a low-commitment way to experience acupuncture, meet Michelle, and ask all your questions before booking a full treatment session.
Cupping uses cups placed on the skin to create suction, which draws blood flow to the area, relieves muscle tension, reduces inflammation, and promotes healing. It’s often combined with acupuncture for enhanced results. Temporary circular marks on the skin are normal and typically fade within a few days.
No referral is needed. You can book directly with Michelle through our online booking system or by calling the clinic at (403) 204-0084.
